Hello! My name is Emily Esack your 2016 – 2017 1st Vice President. Over the July 4th week I had an amazing time in beautiful San Diego, California. At The National Leadership Conference I had been given the job of voting delegate. Voting Delegate votes on who gets elected into our new National Executive Council. As voting delegate I attend workshops and voting delegate meetings. I got to meet voting delegates from across the country. In addition, my job is also to read and evaluate all twenty – five National Executive Council Candidates essays and resumes. I also got to network with them. Our new 2016-2017 National Executive Council is now on the national FCCLA website. I encourage you to check them out. Another job as voting delegate is to vote on the amendments to the bylaws created by the board of directors. This year there were three amendments about reducing the members on the board, to adjust when and where board of director meetings could occur and the amount of people who are on the board of directors. None of the amendments passed. Aside from voting on the council and the amendments I had a great time at workshops. Project Elevate where they talked about bullying and being the bigger person. Empower yourself through dance was about staying healthy through dance and expressing yourself. We got to participate in many dances like the Gimme 5 Dance The wobble and The Cotton Eyed Joe. In conclusion to everything I was able to go sightseeing, go in the pool and go to Coronado Beach and put my feet in the Pacific Ocean and going to the San Diego Zoo. It was amazing! As Nationals was coming to a close I reflected on all the positive lessons I learned and the great times we had. I can’t wait to see many of you at Summer Leadership where we test who has the most magic in them!
